Raleigh Medical Complex
Acute Healthcare Facility
Raleigh General Hospital (RGH), a LifePoint Hospitals Facility, commissioned Stengel Hill Architecture (SHA) to provide a design for this challenging Healthcare Program. Functionally, a primary goal of the Project was to relieve congestion within the existing Hospital and to improve access to Outpatient Services. Accordingly, the Project includes the relocation of Outpatient Services as well as the consolidation of five Certificates of Need into this single Facility. RGH requested a flexible building shell which could accommodate multiple Healthcare Programs with varying levels of acuity including Licensed Programs such as the Diagnostic Imaging Center and the Outpatient Surgery Center as well as Physician Office Space.
To maximize the building footprint and parking areas, the four-story structure is situated within a heavily sloped portion of the site. This building location creates a ‘walk-out’ affect and allows for dedicated vehicular canopies, parking and entrances at both the front and back of the Facility. This configuration has the added benefit of providing dedicated ‘Hospital’ and ‘Medical Office’ entrances although all floors are connected internally by Public Elevators and Lobby’s.
