    Bowling Green Municipal Utilities

    Bowling Green, KY

    32,550 gsf

The project consists of the development of Bowling Green Municipal Utilities (BGMU) existing 4 acre city block in Bowling Green, KY to accommodate their new 32,550 square feet, two story replacement office building. Due to the reuse of the existing BGMU property the project was divided into four phases. This allowed for the new building construction while BGMU continued to occupy their existing facility. They then relocated into the new facility allowing for the demolition of the existing building and redevelopment of the remainder of the site.

This new office building will allow BGMU to consolidate all of their administrative, accounting, customer service, dispatch, electrical, fiber network, and water technical staff within one common building. This will facilitate communication between departments and coordination during disaster events.

Seeking to set a good example and demonstrate responsible use of utility rate payers funds the project sought LEED Silver status. Recycled content, a geothermal well field and heat pump system, lighting control, water use reduction and water effective landscaping are some of the examples of the points sought for LEED.

SHA provided Architecture and Interior Design services for this Project.
